BSN Rugby Club - Est 1976

The BSN Rugby Club has been running for over 40 years and is one of the largest and most successful youth rugby clubs in The Netherlands. From Under 10 to Under 18, teams compete in all regional and national competitions. This involves travelling to all parts of The Netherlands which is an enjoyable way to see the country.

The club also has an active Tags (non-contact) rugby introduction programme for U6's.

While we are based at the British School in The Netherlands, it is certainly not a requirement to attend the BSN school in order to join our club. Over the years the club has become the rugby home for many players (and their parents) from the extended international community in the region including local dutch players as well.

Originally, the club was formed and run by the BSN sports staff. While rugby remains a key part of the schools extracurricular sports programme, the day to day running of the club is managed by an enthusiastic group of parental volunteers - the Club Committee.

The committee is actively supported by team focussed groups, with each age group having a number of coaches and a dedicated team manager. Everyone helps out, whether with their rugby skills, their car driving skills, their ability to fill water bottles, etc, but most importantly as vocal supporters!

If you are interested in finding out more please email us or just turn up at training and introduce yourself!

Club Ethos

Our mission is to provide young rugby players with access to organised rugby competition and training in a friendly environment that appeals to parents and players alike as an enjoyable social and sporting experience.  Above all, we aim to promote the spirit of rugby and team sport in everything we do.

Club Rules

The British School in The Netherlands is proud to host one of the most successful youth rugby clubs in Holland.

We hope that you appreciate, however, that running a rugby club from a school requires a different approach in terms of the grounds and buildings than a traditional rugby club facility. So we would like to ask for your help and support in the following ways:

  • No Rugby Boots to be worn indoors for any reason, at any time

All boots must be removed and left outside before entering the building – including the main atrium.

  • No Smoking on school grounds (inside or outside)

The BSN has a strong no smoking policy and we believe in ensuring that this example is set on all occasions. Smoking on the side lines not only presents a poor example to students, but also results in unpleasant litter.

  • No Dogs

The school does not allow dogs in the school building or on the school playing fields for child health reasons. We respectfully ask you to either leave your dog at home or to leave them in a ventilated secure vehicle.
We are pleased to be able to continue to offer the additional facilities of a canteen during matches and appreciate your support in ensuring that this, and other inside areas, are kept clean.
We hope you have an enjoyable time at the match today and thank you for supporting the rugby club and helping us uphold the values of the BSN in these ways.
